The Hotel, was established in 1885 and built following the discovery of hot thermal
springs bubbling out of the side of the river bank, local maori were familiar with the
health giving properties of the springs and by the early eighties this also began to
attract European attention.
The Hotel was also a popular stopping place for the tedious coach service from
Ngaruawaihia enroute to Raglan. |
